God’s Purpose

Now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to keep you alive by a great deliverance. Now, therefore, it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh and Lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
Genesis 45:5‭, ‬7‭-‬8 NASB

God has a plan. Even when it looks bad, it is for the good of God’s people. His deliverance. Look at Jesus. He came for a mere 33 years and was persecuted, spit on, denied. But O, the Father had a grandiose plan.

When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph bears a grudge against us and pays us back in full for all the wrong which we did to him!” So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, “Your father charged before he died, saying, ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph, “Please forgive, I beg you, the transgression of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.” ’ And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. Then his brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in God’s place?
Genesis 50:15‭-‬19 NASB

Joseph trusted God despite the circumstances that were tough and grim for him. God blessed him and many through him despite the circumstances he faced.

So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
Genesis 50:21 NASB

🌹 God will provide, possibly through you and the circumstances you are in right now. Do you trust Him for the outcome?

Disciple

Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them walked on together.
Genesis 22:7‭-‬8 NASB

Then they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
Genesis 22:9‭-‬10 NASB

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
Genesis 22:11‭-‬12 NASB

Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son.
Genesis 22:13 NASB

Just as God the Father provided Jesus as the sacrifice for us, He provided a substitute for Issac. Out of Jesus’s great love for the Father and mankind He willingly sacrificed His life for you, for us.

Abraham’s obedience was to God no matter the cost. God desires our obedience to Him but we also need to remember that He is a loving, righteous God. The situation was never the cost of Isaac’s life or for Abraham to murder his son but to show Abraham the cost of following God.

🌹 “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate (by comparison of his love for Me) his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
Luke 14:26 NASB

In Jesus Only

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;
John 5:39 NASB

From Genesis to Revelation is the testimony  and revelation of Jesus Christ. He was in the beginning at the creation. He is present in all the Scriptures revealing His character, His plan, His redemptive power, the revelation of His manifestation as a man walking the earth. His death, resurrection and return one day to usher His saints into eternity.

In Jesus Christ alone is salvation and eternal life.

🌹Do you want to know Him? Do you want a deep personal walk with Jesus, walk in His footsteps? Open the word of God and search the Scriptures for they testify of Him.

The Righteousness in Me

Do I have any righteousness in me?

Then he (Abraham) believed in the Lord ; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:6 NASB

For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:3 NASB

It takes belief in the One true God to have any righteousness at all. As stated above,  “Abraham believed and it was credited as righteousness”.

The good news is:

If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. Romans 8:10 NASB

Christ’s righteousness in you. Him in you makes your spirit alive. Now that is good news!

having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:11 NASB

and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, Philippians 3:9 NASB

How’s your faith? Faith in Christ means you are righteous in Him.

🌹 God is the righteousness in me.

From Beginning to End

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.                                                 Genesis 1:16-‬19 NASB

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.
Genesis 1:16

There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.                    Genesis 1:19

The first day of creation God said, “Let there be light”, Genesis 1:3. God separated the light from the darkness.

In verses 16 and 19, God created the sun, moon and stars on the 4th day.
(Thank you Shellie for sharing this revelation).

So what was this light that God spoke and said that it was good on the first day of creation? Well turn from the beginning of God’s word, Genesis, to the end of His word, Revelation.

And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.                   Revelation 21:23‭-‬27 NASB

“the people who were sitting in darkness  saw a great light, and those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a light dawned.”                                              Mark 4:16

The glory of the Lord! The Lamb of God. Heaven will have no darkness. Only the Light of God.

O the things we have to look forward to as the faithful children of God. . .

“No longer will you have the sun for light by day, Nor for brightness will the moon give you light; But you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, And your God for your glory. “Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be over.                                                    Isaiah 60:19‭-‬20 NASB

And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.                                            Revelation 22:5 NASB

From the Very Beginning

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.                                      Genesis 1:2‭-‬5 NASB

“Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.”

From the very beginning of creation, there was light. The expanse was nothing but darkness, nothingness, void until light was brought into the darkness. At this point light and darkness are separated. From Day 1 of creation, DAY 1, light and darkness are separated.

Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.                                                    John 11:9 NASB

God’s intent from the very beginning of His creation was for mankind to walk in the light. When man chose to walk in darkness, the darkness of sin, judgment came. Departure from the Garden of Eden. Working harder to make a living. Pain in childbirth.

But God. . . Out of His abounding love and abundant grace, Jesus, the Light of the world came.

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”                                           John 8:12 NASB

God created the light and separated the darkness from the light. Jesus came as the Light to mankind to separate the light from the darkness. We don’t have to stumble around in the dark. We can walk in the light. The choice is ours.

but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.                                       1 John 1:7 NASB

New Year 2017

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. – Genesis 3:7

The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them. – Genesis 3:21

Adam and Eve at the realization of their nakedness, due to sin (disobedience to God), clothed themselves in fig leaves. The leaves would not have lasted long, since removing them from the vine would cause them to wilt, turn brown and deteriorate. The uselessness of our trying to cover up our sin.

But God . . . clothed Adam and Eve in animal skins. (God’s ways are always better). I thank Dr. Steve Thompson for pointing out last Wednesday night, that God sacrificed the first animal. The skins that Adam and Eve were clothed in came from an animal sacrificed because of sin. God sacrificed an animal in the Garden and also sacrificed His Son for the sins of all mankind.

From beginning to end God demonstrates his love for his creation — man and woman.

How about making 2017 the year you turn from sin to God? He made the provision through His Son, Jesus Christ. Today! Pray – asking forgiveness for your sin and your need for a Savior. Believe – Jesus died for you, was buried and arose from the dead three days later. Confess – Jesus as Lord! Live – as if He is your Lord.

May God bless your 2017 as you live for Him.
