Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk (lead your life) in Him,
Colossians 2:6 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/col.2.6.NASB1995

– walk in a manner worthy of the Lord
So that you will
– please Him in all respects
– bear fruit in every good work
– increase in the knowledge of God
Colossians 1:10 NASB1995

And . . .

having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in (by) your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
Colossians 2:6-7 NASB1995

🌹 . . . we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,

The Christian walk doesn’t stop or culminate at salvation. It is the beginning, not the end, of an eternal walk with Jesus.

Portrait of a Christian

Of this church I (Paul) was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God, that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is

Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:25-27 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/col.1.25-27.NASB1995

If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.
Romans 8:10 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.8.10.NASB1995

Whose righteousness? Christ, in you.
Are you alive in Christ?
Are you walking in the hope of Christ?
Do you have hope of the glory to come?

Portrait #1: Christ in you!

Jesus speaking to the Father:
🙏The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Believing Surrender

Mary, the mother of Jesus, was visited by the angel Gabriel just as Zacharias was six months earlier. The angel told Mary that she had found favor with God and that she would conceive and bear a son. You shall name Him Jesus.
Mary asked how this can be since she was a virgin.
Luke 1:26, 30-31, 34 paraphrased

and the angel answered:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.35.NASB1995

🌹And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:38 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.38.NASB1995

What did it take for Mary to surrender to God’s will?

Ask yourself,  “What will it take for me to do the same?”

🌹And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”

Trusting Surrender

Zacharias, a priest in the days of Herod, was married to Elizabeth. They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.
They were childless due to Elizabeth being barren. Both were advanced in age.
While Zacharias was in the temple of the Lord an angel appeared to him. The angel told Zacharias that his prayer for his wife to conceive was heard and Elizabeth would bear a son and he was to be named John.
Zacharias was told, “You will have joy and gladness and many will rejoice at his birth. He will be great in the sight of the Lord and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb. He will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.”
Luke 1:5-16 paraphrased.

John was the forerunner of Jesus to make ready a people prepared for His coming as a Savior.

Zacharias’ response:

Zacharias said to the angel, “How will I know this for certain? For I am an old man and my wife is advanced in years.”
Luke 1:18 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.1.18.NASB1995

How often in our lives do we lack the power of Almighty God to fulfill His plan because of our focus on our own human abilities? Are we trusting in our ability or in God’s power to accomplish what He has planned?

Will we surrender?

🌹Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

New Year. New You?

Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-3 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.4.1-3.NASB1995

. . . . .be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Colossians 1:9-12 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/col.1.9-12.NASB1995

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:1-3 NASB1995

New Year’s Resolution #3

Thus says the Lord, “Preserve justice and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come And My righteousness to be revealed.
How blessed is the man who does this, And the son of man who takes hold of it; Who keeps from profaning the sabbath, And keeps his hand from doing any evil.” Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, “The Lord will surely separate me from His people.” Nor let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.” For thus says the Lord, “To the eunuchs who keep My sabbaths, And choose what pleases Me, And hold fast My covenant, To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, And a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off.
“Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, To minister to Him, and to love the name of the Lord, To be His servants, every one who keeps from profaning the sabbath And holds fast My covenant; Even those I will bring to My holy mountain And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

New Year’s Resolution #2

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:8-11 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/isa.55.8-11.NASB1995

All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.

🌹Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Wrapped in a Robe of Righteousness 🙌

I will rejoice greatly in the Lord, My soul will exult in my God;
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Isaiah 61:10 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/isa.61.10.NASB1995

He has clothed me with garments of salvation.
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness.

Me!!! A sinner . . . . I am an unworthy sinner who has broken the law of God. I’m imperfect. I’m flawed.

But God . . . .

for he who has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
Romans 6:7-8 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.6.7-8.NASB1995

Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:11 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.6.11.NASB1995

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:12-14 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/rom.6.12-14.NASB1995

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/isa.12.2.NASB1995

🌹And it will be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”
