Prophesy

prophesy: to speak as a mediator between God and humankind or in God’s stead.

Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.
1 Corinthians 14:1, 3 NASB

Pursue love so all that you do will be done in love. Earnestly desire the greater gift to prophesy because the one who prophesies enlightens and uplifts another. This one also advises, cautions, and encourages and also consoles, giving solace and comfort during grief or disappointment. And any unbeliever watching will be convicted.
1 Corinthians 16:14/1 Corinthians 12:31 NASB

By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:35 NASB

But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you.
1 Corinthians 14:1‭, ‬3‭, ‬24‭-‬25 NASB

Dry Bones

He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’ Thus says the Lord God to these bones, ‘Behold, I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life. I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the Lord.’ ” So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, sinews were on them, and flesh grew and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them. Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life.” ’ ” So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
Ezekiel 37:3‭-‬10 NASB

If you are reading this today you are among the living. But are you really?

We are but dry bones without the Spirit of the living God in us. By the Word of God we come to life. By His work in us we come to know Him as our Lord.

This morning I felt slain. I write these devotions in the evening prior to posting them. My bones were dry last evening. This morning as I am getting my morning coffee a thought comes to mind, “Dry Bones”. Isn’t God amazing?
As my husband often says, “Our God is a fourth quarter God”. Why? Because sometimes we depend upon ourselves in this game of life and we forget that God is the coach. When our eyes turn back to Him and live His Word He gives life to dry bones.

🌹 And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house.
Ezekiel 43:5 NASB

Prophesy

So a young man ran and told Moses and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
Then Joshua the son of Nun, the attendant of Moses from his youth, said, “Moses, my Lord, restrain them.” But Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the Lord’s people were prophets, that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”
Numbers 11:27‭-‬29 NASB

What a blessing to be living the New Testament side of Jesus. We have the privilege of the Lord’s “Spirit upon us”. Upon confession of Jesus Christ:

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
1 Corinthians 15:3‭-‬4 NASB

With the Holy Spirit in us we can proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ under His guidance through our belief and surrender to His will.

🌹Can you just imagine what a difference we can make in the world by succumbing to the Spirit that resides in us? Proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Prophesy:
to speak as a mediator between God and humankind or in God’s stead.

We Are One

“It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy (to speak as a mediator between God and humankind or in God’s stead.), Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Joel 2:28‭-‬29 NASB

The Old Testament tells of the coming indwelling Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit that speaks through us as the mediator between God and humankind. The Holy Spirit that does not segregate – male, female, even a lowly servant can have the Holy Spirit living in them.

The Spirit of grace who intercedes on our behalf and helps us to understand what we did to Jesus.

“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.
Zechariah 12:10 NASB

We sent Jesus to death by our sin. When we understand, by the power of the Holy Spirit, that we, at one point in our lives, were  screaming, “Crucify Him”, we then can surrender to the will of God in our lives and let the Holy Spirit live in us. With the indwelling of the Holy Spirit we all will prophesy.

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:27‭-‬28 NASB

🌹Clothed in Jesus’ righteousness, prophesying under the power of the Holy Spirit, for the Father’s glory! We are one in God.

Good News

And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son; today I have begotten You.’ — Acts 13:32-33

Celebrate, it’s Christmas!!!! What better reason to celebrate than the fulfillment of prophesy in Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father. The promise of God to all generations that came in a humble stable.

The precious baby that would sacrifice His life for us. The good news of His resurrection all wrapped up in a beautiful gift and all for those who will believe.

The only begotten Son freely given. Will you accept the gift?

Jesus. The best gift you will receive this Christmas. Celebrate!!

Prophesy

But if everyone is proclaiming God’s message when some unbelievers or ordinary people come in, they will be convinced of their sin by what they hear. They will be judged by all they hear,  their secret thoughts will be brought into the open, and they will bow down and worship God, confessing, “Truly God is here among you!”— 1 Corinthians 14:24-25 (GNT)

Proclaiming God’s message is a gift that one should earnestly desire. (14:1). The message is the Word of God. It is the gospel. It is Jesus Christ promised and fulfilled.

The power of the Word of God is miraculous. It brings unbelievers and ordinary people to their knees in repentance and worship of God. The Word of God has the power to convict, to bring to mind the deep secrets of the soul that darken a life. It has the power to bring knowledge of the One True God causing us to worship the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It has the power to draw us to the throne of God for mercy, grace and redemption.

When the Word of God is proclaimed in the church by everyone, not just the Pastor, then unbelievers will confess that “Truly God is among you!” Proclaim the Word of God in your everyday life. If you are walking closely with Him and studying His awesome Word then you will want to speak of His glory. You will see His glory in everyday happenings in your life. In those you have opportunities to share testimonies of God’s Word. As you do you will see unfold before you the power of God’s Word as it touches the lives of those who need Jesus Christ.

So. Will you earnestly desire the gift of proclaiming God’s Word? Pray asking for God’s gift to prophesy His truth and then seek Him in His Word so you may be equipped to proclaim the Good News!
