Belief or Faith?

But someone (will) may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
James 2:18 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jas.2.18.NASB1995

Are you content being a believer? You said the prayer. You got baptized. Then . . . No fruit. No obedience. No spiritual growth.

Jesus said, “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
Luke 6:46 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/luk.6.46.NASB1995

Faith is more than believing. Faith is living. Living for Jesus . . .

In obedience to His word.

What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.
Matthew 10:27 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.10.27.NASB1995

Growing, nourishing your spirit.

but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18a NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/2pe.3.18.NASB1995

Bearing fruit.

My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
John 15:8 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.15.8.NASB1995

Faith is being all in, sold out to the Lord.

“Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.
Matthew 10:32, 38-39 NASB1995
https://bible.com/bible/100/mat.10.32-39.NASB1995

No act of worthiness means anything, but only faith through the Spirit in us working through love.
Galatians 5:5-6 NASB1995

Belief is not enough.

🌹You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.

Living and Active Word

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/heb.4.12.NASB1995‭‭

‭‭‭‭The word of God is living! Are you living?
for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/1pe.1.23.NASB1995‭‭

The word of God is active. Is it actively working in you?

For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe. 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/1th.2.13.NASB1995‭‭

The word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. Are you taking up the sword?
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/eph.6.17.NASB1995‭‭

The word of God is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Are you allowing the word to transform you? Beware . . .
He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. John‬ ‭12:48‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬
https://bible.com/bible/100/jhn.12.48.NASB1995

🌹. . . but let him who has My word speak My word in truth.

Living or Dying?

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
Deuteronomy 30:19 NASB

Life and blessing or death and curses. Does that seem to be an easy choice? If it were, why are so many choosing death and curses? Could it be self-centered pride? “I can do life myself.”

Let’s take a look at what life is:

by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Deuteronomy 30:20 NASB

The promised land awaited the Israelites. The promised land awaits those today who humbly surrender to God’s eternal love, obedience to His Word, and holding fast to Him. This is life!

1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:5 NASB
2. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God:
Deuteronomy 28:2 NASB
3. You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.
Deuteronomy 10:20 NASB

🌹for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’
Acts 17:28 NASB

Are you living or dying?

God is Good in The Land of The Living

How great is Your goodness, Which You have stored up for those who fear You, Which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, Before the sons of men!
Psalms 31:19 NASB

For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
Isaiah 64:4 NASB

I cried out to You, O Lord; I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
Psalms 142:5 NASB

I shall walk before You, the Lord, In the land of the living.
Psalms 116:9 NASB

🌹 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.
Psalms 27:13 NASB

Thank You, God for Your goodness.

Continually Seeking Him,

The Judge

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
1 Peter 1:17‭-‬19 NASB

Life is more than the imperishable treasures of this earth. Life is Jesus Christ, Him alone. If you are a Christian, you were bought with the precious blood of Christ. Are you living with, for, in Christ to bring glory to God and gain the imperishable gift of being in the glorious presence of God for eternity? OR are you living the perishable life?

🌹God the Father will be the judge.

Existence

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. — 1 Corinthians 8:6

One God. All things exist because of One God. We exist FOR the Father. We live, do, have, are blessed, provided for, loved FOR the Father. But . . .

We exist through Jesus in whom are all things. We are unable to live for the Father without existing in the Son, Jesus. For it is impossible to please the Father without faith in the Son.

Do you know Jesus personally? Do you live through Jesus for the Father? You can’t have one without the other because they are One God.

You also can abide with them by believing that Jesus is the Son of God; that He came in the form of a man to die on a cross to pay the price for the sin of all mankind; that He was buried (placed in a tomb) and was gloriously raised by the Father from death to life.

But it doesn’t end there. You must seek Him continually and love Him with all your heart. In doing that you should be desiring to know Jesus better by reading His Word, the Bible, and praying continuously (as if He is with you always, which He is).

This is really living (participating) through Jesus for the Father.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon
