A Psalm of Praise

Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.

Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord! — Psalm 150

Just do it. No regets. Just praise Him!

Blessing And Righteousness

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. — Psalm 24:5

What a wonderful gift for practising a life with clean hands and a pure heart. Jesus is the best gift anyone could receive. He is our blessing and our righteousness. He is to be pursued, sought. He is the answer. He is the way. He is truth. He is life.

Do you want life, blessing, righteousness? Seek Jesus Christ and His free gift of salvation. He is waiting. Won’t you come?

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. — Romans 10:9-10

The Answer

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully. — Psalm 24:4

The answer to verse 3 question, who may . . . Without Jesus we are not able to have clean hands and a pure heart. Let us lift our souls to Jesus who is the truth. There is no falsehood in Him. He is the way. He is life.

Jesus, our example did not swear deceitfully. Jesus is the answer.

You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord. — Leviticus 19:12

But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment. — James 5:12

Ascend And Stand

Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? — Psalm 24:3

My initial response to this is, “not me”. I am but a filthy rag, even on a good day compared to the Lord God Almighty and His pure holiness. I have never, that I can recall, imagined myself standing before God. I am always on my knees in humble adoration if not lying flat on my face before Him.

But God. . .

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God  prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. — Ephesians 2:4-10

But now in Christ Jesus you who  formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. — Ephesians 2:13

Only through Jesus Christ and Him alone may I ascend into the hill of the Lord and stand in His holy place. How about you? Are you ready to accept God’s grace through Jesus Christ so you can ascend and stand in confidence before the Creator of you?

Founded Upon The Seas

For He founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. Psalm 24:2

This didn’t make much sense to me as I began to memorize this verse. I understand that “it” is the earth that belongs to the Lord. So the earth was founded upon the seas? Hmm. Better meditate on this a bit. . . . .

So as I am reciting this verse it comes to me that this is in Genesis.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Makes sense why the Psalmist said the earth was the Lord’s.)

The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. (Hmm. Catch that? There was water over the surface. There was water everywhere.)

Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. (Land, earth, was founded, established, upon the seas. The land appeared as the water gathered together.)

My conclusion on memory and meditation of Psalm 24:2? God founded and established this earth on which we live. He is Creator. It belongs to Him. We belong to Him. He has ultimate rule. He is King. Realizing He is Supreme, I humble myself before Him, surrendering my life — the one He gave me — for His purpose and His glory.

How about you? Jesus is waiting.

It’s The Lord’s

Glenda, this is for you. Thank you.

I was recently challenged at a women’s get together at my church. The challenge was to literally hide God’s Word in my heart. If I would take the time to memorize the Word of God I would be equipped to: share the gospel, stand against the attacks of Satan, be encouraged when discouraged, strengthened when weak, victorious in fear, and so on and so on.

I decided to memorize Psalm 24. One verse a day. Friday morning I wrote the verse down and started repeating it throughout the day.

Saturday came and went without writing the second verse or memorizing it. Had I given up already? No. Life just gets in the way, or actually I let life interrupt. I did continue to repeat Psalm 24:1 throughout the day — but it was different this time. I wasn’t trying to remember the verse so it started to penetrate my thoughts, meditating on His awesome Word. Today I plunged deep into the unfathomable, overwhelming, deep, personal, unchanging Word. How could one little verse be filled with so much?

Let me share Psalm 24:1.

The earth is the Lord’s and all it contains, the world and those who dwell in it.   (Yes, I wrote it from memory).

When I try to wrap my mind around the fact that earth itself, all it contains, and every last living being on it belongs to the Lord, I am blown away. I don’t even have words that can contain, explain, make fathomable that one verse. There could be books written about this one verse and still not touch on the awesomeness of God and His divine hand print on HIS earth. HIS world.

I will point out that the part of this verse that stood out the most was that I, little insignificant me, belongs to God. WOW! This brings me great joy, peaceful security, undaunting confidence, faithful courage and so much more. I am loved. I belong.

There are some who read this verse and do not find the things I see. They don’t want to belong to God. They fight the truth that they are already His. That stubborn, unrelenting, I am in control, non-surrendering person keeps themselves from experiencing what their souls long for. To belong. To be loved. To feel secure. To know peace. God wants to bless those who dwell on His earth but there must be a surrender of one’s will to that of God.

Do you want to trust? Surrender to Jesus Christ today and know true peace, security and belonging. Then learn His Word. Plant it in your heart and meditate on it day and night.

Dwelling

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. — Psalm 91:1

Wow. I love that word “dwelling”. A place of shelter, safety. A home. A permanent residence. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. 😀 Are you “dwelling” — living, residing, lingering — in the presence of the Most High, the Almighty?

A place to rest. A place to be revived. A place to draw near. But also a place to live!!! Live in the shadow and power of the Almighty.

Ashamed?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. — Romans 1:16

Is God trying to alert us? I received a devotional this morning from a blog I follow and this is the verse referenced. I open “biblegateway.com” this morning and what is the verse of the day? You’re right, Romans 1:16. If I’m not mistaken I think I saw it on Facebook yesterday.

There are a lot of changes going on in the United States, and worldwide, that is challenging those who believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, who died for the sin of all mankind, and was raised on the third day, as stated in the Holy Scriptures. That is the gospel in a nutshell.

Do you believe? Are you ashamed? I believe a time of great testing is coming. Are you ready?

“Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” — Luke 21:34-36

Pray For Peace

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who love you.
“May peace be within your walls,
And prosperity within your palaces.”
For the sake of my brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “May peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,

I will seek your good. — Psalm 122:6-9
