Give Thanks

“Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you — 1 Samuel 12:24

Do we really consider all the great things the Lord had done for us? If we did we would reverence Him more, serve Him better, seek Him with all our heart and be more content where we are. Thank Him today for all the great things He has done for you. Let’s “give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One, give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son”.

Promise: Mercy and Righteousness

But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, — Psalm 103:17

What a great promise to cling to and remember. God’s lovingkindness (mercy) is forever. When we received His mercy through the cross it extended down through generation after generation to us and it will never end. It is hard to fathom the depth of this mercy we receive for all who reverence God.

And if His mercy weren’t enough but His righteousness is to thousands who love Him and keep His commandments. Passed on to children’s children. His righteousness will not go away. Our God is righteous and nothing can change that.

Share your righteous God who keeps His covenant and shows mercy from everlasting to everlasting to your children so they may pass it to their children who pass it to their children for a thousand generations. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. His righteousness is ever progressing.

Praise You, Lord God for your lovingkindess and righteousness! The promise that is everlasting.

Promise: You Are Mine

But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! — Isaiah 43:1

The Lord, our Creator who formed us says, “you are Mine”! As I read this verse I thought of my daughter who is about to deliver my first grandchild. When our granddaughter arrives my daughter will call her by name. This is a name that her and her husband picked out especially for her. Every time they call her name it acknowledges that they know her and she belongs to them.

My kids will protect her and when she fears I can imagine them saying, “Do not fear”. They would give their lives to redeem her. But as much as they would want to they will never be able to redeem her from her sins. Only Jesus can do that. Even though they will love their daughter with all they are, they will never be able to love her as God loves her.

No greater redemption or love will be yours except through Jesus Christ. So when you read the promise “you are Mine”, know it holds so many more promises for you. Every promise is yours that is written in the Word of God because “you are Mine”!!!!

All My Heart

Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. — 1 Samuel 12:24

When I consider all the Lord has done for me — relocated from on high to a dark world of sin; endured extreme pain, ridicule, being mocked; experiencing rejection and ultimately on the cross loneliness, shame and sin — how can I not believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ.*

He has given me life worth living filled abundantly with love, peace, joy, contentment and a journey beyond all my expectations. Let me make it clear that I am not perfect and make many mistakes while the Lord conforms me to His will. I still have freewill and that “will” many times has a hard time trusting. But I will continue to return to God with all my heart.«

I choose to fear and serve Him with all my heart. I choose to seek Him, love Him, observe and keep His law, hold fast, walk in His ways giving thanks and doing it with all my heart. The more I practice these the more my trust toward the Lord increases so that I trust Him with all my heart.

As I trust my Lord I rejoice and exult Him with all my heart!»

Seek Peace Where?

‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ — Isaiah 41:10

I often wonder why we go about without the peace of God within us. I also wonder how the Lord must feel about it. His peace is given to us in abundance but we reject it. Why?

Do we enjoy living in fear of what tomorrow will bring, or are we too proud to admit our need for God’s peace? Maybe we just have to be the one in control until life becomes out of our control. Maybe we are just seeking peace but in the wrong places.

First, God is with us so we need not fear — anything — because He will not leave us nor forsake us. He keeps His promises for He is God. Why then do we look anxiously about us for the peace that is only found in God alone? Second, we need to seek and trust Jesus Christ. Seek the Father’s peace that only comes through a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus.

God loves us so much and wants us to come to Him because He is the one who will strengthen us, help us and uphold us with His righteous right hand. He is the sure way to true peace. To God be the glory through His wonderful, marvelous, ever present Son, Jesus Christ!

Go in peace.

Fear of the Lord

O fear the Lord, you His saints; For to those who fear Him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing. Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. — Psalm 34:9-11

O fear the Lord – “worship Him and make conscience of your duty to Him in everything, not fear and shun Him but fear and seek Him”.* Fear the Lord, you His saints – people of God^; believers^; godly ones«.

We, His children, in seeking our Lord find all we want. He fulfills every desire we have in Him. Not the desires of our sinful flesh but the desires that come from our personal walk with Jesus. We are satisfied because our hearts seek the heart of God, truly being what we want.

The Word promises that those who seek the Lord will not be in want of any good thing. He does not withhold any good thing from those who walk uprightly. How do we walk uprightly? By fearfully seeking Him and keeping His commandments. Remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The Lord gives grace and glory and His praise endures forever.

Seek? That Easy?

I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces will never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them. — Psalm 34:4-7

Wow! Is it really that easy? It must be. God mentions many times in His Word to seek Him and He can and will be found. His desire is for us to seek. AND when we do, O, the treasures we receive.

The Lord is with us and will not forsake us when we seek Him. Jesus answers and delivers us from all our fears. When we look to Him His radiance shows in our faces — we are not ashamed. Cry to the Lord and He hears and saves us out of our troubles, rescuing us by the encampment of angels around us.

So we have a friend who listens to us and answers also; takes our troubles, delivers us from fear, takes our shame away and will not forsake us. Why do we not seek Him, Jesus Christ?

Surrender and “seek the Lord and His strength. Seek the Lord continually.” — Psalm 105:4

And rescues them.the Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. — 2 Chronicles 15:2b
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. — Psalm 9:10
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. — Matthew 7:7

May Be Well With Us

But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’ Jeremiah 7:23

Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will listen to the voice of the Lord our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well with us when we listen to the voice of the Lord our God.” Jeremiah 42:6

God commands us to obey His voice. How do we hear His voice? Through His Word, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and God’s people. When we study His Word, alongside prayer, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and the godly counsel and accountability of His people — He is our God and we are His people. When we listen and obey we walk in His way and when we walk in His way it is well with our soul.

Listening is a choice. When we listen intently to the Lord, it is well with us,  whether our lives are pleasant or unpleasant. Obedience to the Lord our God brings well being in all circumstances. Our focus must be intent upon Him and seeking His ways. Whether pleasant or unpleasant we have peace of mind that things are going God’s way and we can trust that He is in control. It is well with my soul.

Walking with Jesus I am made righteous in the sight of God and I will be fruitful in my endeavors, works, resulting in eating the fruit of my actions. It is well with me.

God desires us to have a heart that fears Him and keeps all His commandments always — that it may be well with us. Do you desire to live a life of well being? God desires that for us all. Have a heart that fears Him and keep His commandments.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon

Say to the righteous that it will go well with them, For they will eat the fruit of their actions. — Isaiah 3:10

Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their sons forever! — Deuteronomy 5:29

Walk in His Ways

“Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,                                                                                    — Deuteronomy 10:12

It really is all about God. He has set His standard, “to fear the Lord your God”, reverently fear. A respectful awe of our Lord.

He commands us to walk in His ways. His commandments are to be followed because He is, was and always will be the One and only God, Creator, Lord, Master, our All in all. He deserves our utmost obedience.

The first and foremost commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. If we love Him we will keep His commandments, serve Him and fear Him — that is walking with the Lord.

Walking with the Lord is so much more than obeying commandments and serving. God gives us these commandments and instructions in His Word for our benefit. Walking with the Lord Jesus is a walk of peace and joy. Within the confines of obedience to His Word we find a trustworthy, faithful friend who will never fail us. Living in the boundaries He has set for us we find contentment. We might be commanded but it is for our benefit and blessing. Surrender to a wonderful walk with Jesus and let His commandments guide you to a deeper, more solid faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Continually seeking Him,

Sharon

Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. Deuteronomy 8:6

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. — Deuteronomy 6:5

You Are Valuable

Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7

When I think about sparrows and how small they are and how I just take them for granted flying free, and then think about the God who made them, so BIG and Powerful, I am blown away with how He cares for them. They have no worry of food or shelter – God provides all they need. God considers them valuable and worth providing for. How much more are we valuable to Him. Yet, we fret and worry about how our needs will be provided. He cares and knows us so well that He is aware of the number of hairs on our head.  We have nothing to fear because we are valuable to God. As this Sunday we commemorate the Sanctity of Life, know that you are loved and valued by your Creator. He cares for you and desires an intimate relationship with you. Come to the One who values, cares, and loves you.
