Everlasting Rock

Who is among you that fears the Lord, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God. Isaiah 50:10 NASB

The darkness of the world is all around us. People are living in fear and uncertainty. This environment can cause the one who fears the Lord, that obeys Jesus, is a child of God, to walk in darkness and fear just as the world fears. What is the answer?

“trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.”

Long for the presence of the Lord. Seek Him diligently. Learn God’s righteousness. Experience His sovereignty.

At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

God is at work. Let Him fulfill His will.

I will go away and return to My place
Until they acknowledge their guilt and seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. Hosea 5:15

Prayer:

“God, You are my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For You, Lord God, are my strength and song, And You have become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

🌹Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the  Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. Isaiah 26:4

FROM WOE TO GO

God never ceases to amaze me. He makes Himself visible if we would only seek Him. I usually write a devotional from the Scriptures I am reading in my daily reading plan but God had other plans this morning. Certain events happened this morning that brought me to Isaiah.

And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, The whole earth is full of His glory.”
Isaiah 6:3 NASB

Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.” Isaiah 6:5‭-‬7 NASB

Right here is the gospel. When confronted with Holy God, the King of Kings, the Lord of hosts we can’t but realize we are ruined, people of unclean lips. We are sinners who can’t possibly live up to God’s standard.

The coal taken from the Sacrificial altar – Jesus the Sacrifice from the altar of God – cleanses from sin, forgiven. We are clothed in His righteousness.

What do we do with this forgiveness, this new coat of righteousness?

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 NASB

One of the events that happened this morning that inspired this devotion was hearing from a sister in Christ who I have had the privilege to watch God’s movement in her and her families lives.

God has worked to bring this family to answer the call of “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”

🌹Salvation is only the beginning of the work of God in you. What will be your response? “Here am I, send me!”?

Crop Sowing and Reaping Pt. 2

Sow with a view to righteousness, Reap in accordance with kindness; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord Until He comes to rain righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12 NASB

Sow with a view to righteousness,
Sow: to scatter (seed) over land, earth, etc., for growth; plant.

Everyday we have encounters with someone. Opportunity to scatter the seed of righteousness. Are you aware of your daily encounters with people? Is the Word of God so implanted in your heart and mind that your view is to righteousness with each encounter?

Reap in accordance with kindness;
Reap: to gather or take (a crop, harvest, etc.).

People. God’s creation. Everyone a God created being. Do we treat each person we encounter with kindness? Seeking to reap, harvest, gather their soul for the kingdom of God?

Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38 (NASB)

And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Luke 10:2 (NASB)

Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. John 4:35 (NASB)

Break up your fallow ground,
Fallow: not in use; inactive

Is our “Christianity” inactive? Are we content with the current nature of our being? Our surroundings? Our interactions with others? Do we have a deep concern for the spiritual condition of others or are we content that “I am saved”?

It’s time for us to break up our fallow ground.

How?!

For it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you.

When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.” Psalm 27:8

Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually. Psalm 105:4

It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit in us and our surrender for the use by God to sow and reap for a harvest of righteousness within us.

Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NASB)

Psalm 146

Hallelujah!
My soul, praise the Lord.
I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing to my God as long as I live.

Do not trust in nobles,
in man, who cannot save.
When his breath leaves him,
he returns to the ground;
on that day his plans die.

Happy is the one whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lordhis God,
the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea and everything in them.
He remains faithful forever,
executing justice for the exploited
and giving food to the hungry.
The Lord frees prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord raises up those who are oppressed.
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord protects foreigners
and helps the fatherless and the widow,
but He frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord reigns forever;
Zion, your God reigns for all generations.
Hallelujah! — Psalm 146

For You Are God

Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
11 For the sake of Your name, O Lord, revive me.
In Your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.
12 And in Your lovingkindness, cut off my enemies
And destroy all those who afflict my soul,
For I am Your servant. — Psalm 143:10-12

You are my God and I am your servant. Teach me Your will. Lead me. Revive me. Protect me. All for the sake of Your name. Your glory. Your will. Your purpose. Your righteousness. Your lovingkindness.

Amen

“I’ve Arrived”

is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them; — Numbers 16:9

Is it not enough for you or too little for you? How do you feel about where God has you serving now?  Do you believe you deserve more or better? Are you so righteous and holy that you should dictate where, when and how you should serve?

There have been many who have fallen because their ministry has become theirs and not God’s anymore. They have reached that righteousness level where dependence upon God is not priority. A bad place to be but all of us are capable of going there.

On a personal note: one of my greatest fears is that my head will swell thinking that the ministry given to me by God has anything to do with me. I express this to the Lord all the time and pray that He keeps me humble. (That’s another one of those prayers like asking for patience).

The warning is found in Numbers 16. If you are serving the Lord God I recommend you read this chapter.

Blasphemy

Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. — Leviticus 24:16

How seriously do you take the blaspheming of “the Name”? Do the disrespectful words just roll off the tongue without any thought to His righteousness?

I believe God takes it seriously. If He does then I will too. Practice I shall, to bring honor to God in fear of His righteousness.

Inspiration Of God

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Who is your authority in matters of life? Morality? Decision making? Spiritual development?

Life

In whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind? — Job 12:10

So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. Therefore having  overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all  people everywhere should repent,  because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” — Acts 17:22-31

That man is Jesus Christ.

Blessing And Righteousness

He shall receive a blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. — Psalm 24:5

What a wonderful gift for practising a life with clean hands and a pure heart. Jesus is the best gift anyone could receive. He is our blessing and our righteousness. He is to be pursued, sought. He is the answer. He is the way. He is truth. He is life.

Do you want life, blessing, righteousness? Seek Jesus Christ and His free gift of salvation. He is waiting. Won’t you come?

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. — Romans 10:9-10
